The Alcohol Committed The Crimes

So we have all heard the people who blame guns for killing people. And the people who blame obesity on the fast food restaurants. Now there are 5 inmates who are blaming alcohol for their crimes.–abc-news-topstories.html

These 5 inmates have decided to file a lawsuit against the alocohol companies asking for $1 BILLION. Yes, that is a B, as in BILLION.

Apparently they have no responsibility for their actions. It was all the alcohol which caused the crimes that occurred. They have no responsibility for actually sitting down and drinking the alcohol. Once they drank the alcohol it took over control of their whole bodies.

I understand alcohol contributed to the situation. I understand it is addictive and that not everyone can drink it responsibily. I’m not denying any of that. But people still have to take responsibility for their choices or lack of choices.

I would like to say I am surprised but unfortunately I am not. We live in a society today where people are never at fault for anything negative that occurs. It’s always someone else or some other thing that is at fault. In my daily job I hear people daily tell me how the situation they find themselves in is not their fault.

We as society need to start owning our actions and taking responsibility for those actions. Mistakes happen, we all make them. Some are bigger mistakes then others and having larger consequences than others. But to continue to pass the blame on anything else other than ourselves is not resolving the issue.
