A Dogs Love/Hate Relationship With A Car

Run outside. Take a picture of the first thing you see. Run inside. Take a picture of the second thing you see. Write about the connection between these two random objects, people, or scenes. – Daily Prompt

So here is the picture of the first thing I saw when I went out my front door:

And here was the second thing I saw when I came back inside:

There truly is not connection between the van and the dog. So it took a bit of creativity for me to come up with one. Here goes nothing…..

The dog has a love/hate relationship with the car. There are times where she truly hates the car, and times where she looks forward to the car returning.

The hate part of the relationship is from when it is responsible for taking us humans away from home. Without us humans, there is no one to love and cuddle. There is no one to bring the dog toys to and act like she wants to play only to hold onto the toy as tightly as possible in her teeth. No humans to instantly hop up into our seat the minute we get up for a quick trip to the bathroom or kitchen. And probably most important of all, no human to keep the food bowl full and provide doggie treats to her every so often.

The love part comes in during that time when there is no human around. She can listen for what sounds like the car pulling into the drive way. She will start to get excited for a moment. Then when she hears the car door slam she knows for sure that her human companions are back at home! She can rush to the door, happily barking and waving her tail all ready to greet us and show us how happy she is that we are back at home.

As with so many other things in life, there is good that comes with the bad. It simply realizing that when the bad occurs, the good is right around the corner!

My dog can’t wait to jump in the car and join us. He whines to get out w/the kids at school!

We’ve not made a habit of the dogs going places with us. With three, two of them decent size, would be difficult to do so. Otherwise that would probably be another point in the love side of the relationship.
