Ode to Spring

It’s Valentine’s Day, so write an ode to someone or something you love. Bonus points for poetry! – Daily Prompt

Obviously I am a bit behind on the Daily Prompt, hence it’s not Valentine’s Day any longer. However I am still going to write on this topic so I can stay on track for the 365 topic posts.

Today I am going to write about something that I love and have on the mind a lot lately – Spring! I’m going to miss out on the bonus points though since I am not a poet.

Spring is my favorite season of the year.

Spring is the season where God reminds us that through him all things are reborn. The plants, flowers, and leaves that all died the previous fall are reborn and come out to show their beauty. Just as we, through him, can be reborn and show our beauty to the world.

Spring also is the time when the All American Past Time gets started. Baseball. Players report to their spring training homes in Florida or Arizona and start practicing and getting ready for a new season. Each and every team truly has new life and starts out tied for first place. Every team has the chance to go out and do their best to bring their fans a championship.

Spring is the season when all our warm weather friends return to grace us with their beauty. Birds come back north after spending a long winter south. Butterflies and lightning bugs start the process to be ready for those midsummer days and evenings when it’s time to enjoy their amazing beauty.

Spring is the season we can start to plan all our summer outings which we have missed since the last summer ended. Amusement parks, aquatic centers, long leisurely walks in the park, picnics, swimming pools, and cookouts. Just to name a few.

How could anyone not love spring?
