Weekly Photo Challenge – Unique

In a new post specifically created for this challenge, share a picture that says UNIQUE to you. – Weekly Photo Challenge

unique

The picture I am using for unique is from our local aquarium.

I unfortunately do not remember the name of these creatures. Or even where they are normally found at in nature.

What I do remember is that they look like HUGE spiders in water. If one was ever to combine crabs with spiders and supersize them, this would be what they would look like.

They are in a tank in the center of a dark room. There must be 6-8 of them in the tank together. They are just so amazing to watch. As long as they remain behind that glass!

This tank is always one of the highlights for me when we visit the aquarium. Only the sharks and the sting rays are more of a highlight to me.

But for the purposes of this challenge, I thought this was more unique than the sharks and sting rays.

Looks like a spider crab to me. Love the way they’re lit up pink. Our aquarium has some cool stuff too–I love the baby jellyfish.

Japanese spider crabs! I wrote a story about them a while back – in the wild they can get ridiculously big, over three metres. I freaked myself out a bit with the research, to be honest, but these ones look OK šŸ˜‰
